The most common question we get about logo signs is "what size should it be?" Too small and it gets lost on the wall; too big and it crowds the room. Here's a simple way to decide.
1. Measure the wall, not just the space you like
Measure the full width and height of the wall the sign will hang on, and note anything in the way: a desk, a TV, light switches or a doorway. A sign usually looks balanced when it fills roughly half to two-thirds of the open wall width above the furniture.
2. Think about where people will read it from
A sign behind a reception desk is read from the doorway. A sign in a hallway is read up close. The farther away the reader, the taller the letters need to be, so measure from the entrance to the wall.
3. Do the painter's tape test
Before ordering, tape out a rectangle at the size you're considering and live with it for a day. If it feels small from the doorway, size up. This one step saves more re-orders than anything else.
Common sizes we make
- 12 × 24 inches: door signs, small suites and room signs
- 24 × 36 inches: our most common reception and lobby logo sign
- 24 × 48 inches: wider walls and statement pieces
- 36 × 48 inches and up: large lobbies and feature walls
Wood back or acrylic back?
Acrylic letters mounted on a wood backing feel warm and natural. Letters on an acrylic backing feel modern and clean. Both are laser cut to your logo; it comes down to the look of your space.
