NFC Tap-to-Give Signs for Churches, Explained (Sizes, Prices & Setup)

Quick answer: An NFC tap-to-give sign is a small wood or acrylic sign with a chip inside that opens your church's online giving page when someone holds their phone near it. There's no app to download, and it works with the giving platform you already use, because the chip simply opens your link. Our tap-to-give circles start at $25 each, or $300 for 100 programmed 1" circles.

More and more people walk into church without cash or a checkbook. Tap-to-give signs close that gap: a guest or member taps their phone on a sign at the pew, the welcome table or the lobby, and your giving page opens right there. Here's how they work, what they cost and how to plan them for your building.

How NFC tap-to-give works

NFC stands for near-field communication. It's the same short-range technology behind tap-to-pay cards. Each sign has a thin chip under the engraved surface, and that chip holds one web address.

  1. You give us your link. This is usually your online giving page, but it can be any web address.
  2. We program the chip. We set it to open that link, unless you choose to program it yourself.
  3. Someone taps. They hold the top of their phone near the sign, and a prompt pops up to open your page.
  4. They give the way they already do. Payment happens on your giving platform, not on the sign.

Because the sign only opens a link, it doesn't replace your giving software. Your platform's normal processing fees still apply. Most recent iPhones and Android phones can read NFC. Some Android phones need NFC turned on in settings, so it's smart to add an engraved QR code as a backup. Just ask us about adding one while we design your proof.

Where to put tap-to-give signs in your church

Put them where people already pause. That's where a tap feels natural:

  • Pew backs or chair backs: a 2.25" circle is easy to see without being distracting.
  • Welcome or connect table: a 3" or 4" circle that's easy to spot from a few steps away.
  • Lobby walls and info stations: pair the tap sign with your church logo sign.
  • Bulletins, welcome packets and guest cards: a subtle 1" or 1.5" circle.
  • Kids' check-in and café counters: good spots for event sign-ups or a second giving fund.

Giving doesn't have to be the only link. Many churches use a second set of circles for a visitor connect card, prayer requests, event sign-ups or sermon notes. One chip holds one link, so plan a separate circle for each action.

Sizes, programming options and prices

Our Tap to Give Church Sign comes in 1", 1.5", 2.25", 3" and 4" circles. You can choose two-tone engraved acrylic (1/16") or stained birch wood (1/4"), and each circle has a peel-and-stick adhesive back. If you need a different way to mount them, ask us. You also choose how the chip is programmed:

  • DIY: you program the chips yourself.
  • Ready-to-Use: we program your link before we ship.
  • Editable: we program it, and you can update the link anytime. This is great if your giving platform or campaign page might change.
Size (100 circles) DIY Ready-to-Use Editable
1" $260 $300 $400
1.5" $290 $330 $430
2.25" $330 $370 $470
3" $350 $390 $490
4" $445 $485 $585

A single circle is $25, and the price per circle drops as quantities go up to 1,000. You can see every quantity on the product page. If you'd rather have a standalone countertop display, our Custom NFC Tap Sign starts at $45 for a 5x7 wood sign. You can browse everything in our NFC Tap Signs collection.

How to plan your order

  1. Count the seats and spots. Most churches order one circle per row or chair section, plus a few larger ones for the lobby.
  2. Pick one link per circle. Your giving page is the most important one. Add connect cards or prayer requests as a second set.
  3. Match your look. Choose acrylic or a wood stain that fits your room and your other church signs.
  4. Approve your proof. We send a digital proof before anything is cut. Production takes 5–7 business days after you approve it, plus shipping time.
  5. Test before Sunday. Tap a few circles with both an iPhone and an Android phone before you stick them in place.

U.S. website orders of $150 or more ship free, so most church-wide orders qualify.

Tap-to-give FAQ

Do people need an app to use a tap-to-give sign?

No. Supported phones read the chip on their own and open your link in the browser.

Does it work with our current giving platform?

Yes, as long as your platform has a web giving page. The chip opens that link, so you keep using the system you already have.

Can we change the link later?

Choose the Editable option if you want to update the link yourself anytime. With Ready-to-Use, we program your link once before we ship.

Can these signs go outside?

Our signs are made for indoor use, like pews, lobbies and welcome areas.
